LINC UP Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 29, 2026

LINC UP respects your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect when you visit our website, join our email list, or sign up for text messages, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Who we are

LINC UP Nonprofit Housing Corporation advances racial equity and economic & political power in the greater Grand Rapids community by removing barriers, expanding opportunities, and increasing affordable housing. You can reach us at (616) 451-9140 or info@lincup.org.

Information we collect

Information you give us. When you fill out a form, register for an event or class, join our email list, opt in to text messages, volunteer, or contact us, we may collect your name, email address, mobile phone number, mailing address, and any details you choose to share.

Information collected automatically. When you visit our website, we and our service providers may collect technical information such as your IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, and the date and time of your visit, using cookies and similar tools.

Email activity. If you receive our emails, our email platform may record whether you opened a message or clicked a link, so we can see what is useful.

Text message information. If you opt in to texts, we collect your mobile number, the date, time, and method of your opt-in, your replies (such as STOP, HELP, or a question), and delivery information from our messaging provider.

We use your information to:

  • Run and improve our programs, events, and website

  • Register you for events, classes, and services, and confirm your participation

  • Send email updates, newsletters, and event information you asked for

  • Send text message reminders and updates you opted in to

  • Respond to your questions and requests

  • Understand how people use our website so we can make it better

  • Keep records of consent and opt-outs, and meet legal requirements

Cookies and analytics

Our website may use cookies and similar technologies to make the site work and to understand how it is used. You can set your browser to block or delete cookies, though some parts of the site may not work as well.

Email

We email people who signed up or who have taken part in our programs and asked to hear from us. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link, and we honor unsubscribe requests promptly.

Text messages

We only text people who have opted in, by checking a consent box on a form, providing a number on a registration or sign-in form that explains you agree to receive texts, or texting a keyword to our number. We do not buy or rent phone number lists. Message frequency varies, and message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP at any time to opt out. More details are in our Terms of Service.

Who we share your information with

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information.

We do not share your mobile phone number or your text message opt-in data and consent with third parties or affiliates for their marketing or promotional purposes.

We share information only with service providers that help us operate, such as our website host, email platform, text messaging platform, and wireless carriers, and only as needed for them to do their work for us. We may also share information when the law requires it, to respond to a valid legal request, or to protect the safety of our community, staff, and programs. We may share information in a summary form that does not identify you, such as attendance totals for funders and partners.

How long we keep your information

We keep your information as long as needed for the purposes above and to meet legal or reporting duties. If you opt out of texts or email, we keep your contact details on a suppression list so we do not contact you again. You can ask us to delete your information, and we will do so unless we must keep it to honor an opt-out or meet a legal duty.

How we protect your information

We limit access to personal information to staff and providers who need it, and we use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards. No method of storing or sending information is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your choices

  • Text messages: Reply STOP to any message to unsubscribe

  • Email: Click the unsubscribe link in any email, or contact us.

  • Cookies: Adjust your browser settings to limit or delete cookies.

  • Access, correct, or delete: Contact us to see, update, or delete the information we hold about you.

Opting out of one channel does not opt you out of the others, so tell us if you want to stop all communications.
