Despite knowing the hazards of using lead-based paints back in the early 1900’s, lead paint wasn’t banned by the United States until 1978. This ban did not account for all the structures, homes, hospitals, etc. that were already contaminated. We now know lead paint is so toxic that, once you’ve been poisoned, it can never be reversed. This drives the urgency to get this contamination out of our communities!
